A federal judge in Pennsylvania sentenced Durante King-Mclean, 27, of Cambridge, Ontario, to 160 months in prison for conspiring to illegally traffic firearms across the U.S.-Canada border. King-Mclean pleaded guilty in May 2025 in connection with a September 2023 traffic stop in which Pennsylvania State Police recovered 65 handguns concealed in the trunk of his rental vehicle.
The stop, in Franklin County, ended with King-Mclean fleeing on foot before being apprehended. Of the 65 handguns recovered — each individually hidden inside socks — two were fully automatic, 11 had been reported stolen, and one had an obliterated serial number. Investigators established that King-Mclean had remained in contact with his co-conspirators for months leading up to his arrest, coordinating the purchase and transport of the weapons from Florida toward the Canadian border.
The case took on an added dimension after King-Mclean’s arrest, when Canadian authorities separately charged him in connection with an April 2023 heist of millions of dollars in gold bars and foreign currency from a cargo terminal at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. He had entered the United States illegally shortly after that theft and remained in the country until his September 2023 arrest.
Officials with ATF and HSI said the sentence reflects the seriousness of cross-border firearms trafficking and the strength of coordinated law enforcement between the U.S. and Canada. The case was investigated by ATF’s Harrisburg office, the Pennsylvania State Police, and HSI as part of a broader federal task force focused on dismantling cross-border criminal networks and trafficking operations, and was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
