Lebanon County Jury Convicts Man of First-Degree Murder in 2019 Killing

Date Posted: January 2nd, 2026

A Lebanon County, Pennsylvania jury has convicted a New York man of first-degree murder in the 2019 death of his adult daughter, following a week-long trial. Attorney General Dave Sunday announced the verdict, which came after prosecutors presented evidence that the defendant beat and strangled his daughter in Palmyra before disposing of her body in a park in Staten Island.

According to the Office of Attorney General, 57-year-old Kabary Salem was found guilty by the jury in Lebanon County and now faces a mandatory life sentence when he is sentenced later this year. Prosecutors outlined how investigators used surveillance video, GPS data, and DNA evidence to link Salem to the crime.

The evidence indicated Salem drove his daughter to Pennsylvania in October 2019, where she was killed and later found in a public park in New York. After the killing, Salem fled the country before being arrested in December 2020. Prosecutors commended the coordinated work of local police and state attorneys in securing the conviction.
