The IT Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues from employees related to computer systems, software, and hardware.  The position will be solving problems and coming up with solutions while supporting the company’s day-to-day IT needs.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serving as the first point of contact for employees seeking technical assistance in-person, over the phone, or via email
  • Performing in-person or remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions
  • Determining the best solution based on the issue and details provided
  • Documenting problems and solutions in the knowledge base for employees to access first before contacting IT in the future
  • Training employees on use of their equipment when needed
  • Assisting in the configuration and operation of computer operating systems
  • Performing upgrades to systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution
  • Participating in planning, installing, maintaining, documenting, and troubleshooting Windows Server based applications, SQL databases, operating systems and cloud infrastructure.
  • Managing the data center and computer host systems including hardware, software, and equipment including proper A/C functionality and backup power
  • Assisting with data backup plan, including creating and verifying routine backups; and helping to develop, implement, and document a backup plan for recovery of data on servers in the event of a disaster or unintentional loss
  • Other duties as assigned

YOUR COMPETENCIES

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Very organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, you will be serving internal customers
  • Preference for experience administering multiple Windows Operating Systems (Desktop and Server), MacOS, and virtualization experience (VMWare / Hyper V)

YOUR EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous helpdesk and/or system administration experience
